Analysis of recent disaster fires shows that five ingredients are necessary for a fire to turn from a wildfire into an urban disaster with city-scale losses:

1. strong winds,
2. rapid vegetation fire spread,
3. lack of defensible space,
4. delayed firefighting response,
5. tightly packed structures

All our cities are subjected to Santa Ana Winds, Over grown vegetation under our communities, impossible to create big enough defensible space, not enough firefighters and 5 foot set backs. So now what can we do. At MFB we say our government needs to reduce is FEMA risk with an AIA Wildfire Defense System Tax Credit. There is no other way to defend our communities until WFD Systems can deploy Safe Fire Chemistry on and around homes to slow and hault ember ignition and fire advance.
