Tribute To Ben Franklin Blog

Founder of the First Organized Fire Department

Mighty Fire Breaker™ products and practices are designed to protect
human health and our environment.

It was Ben Franklin who coined the expression, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
The man who helped found the United States of America in 1776 also founded the Union Fire Company, America’s first organized fire department. Mighty Fire Breaker promotes a proactive approach to fire defense, promoting sensible risk reduction products and practices that can be taken before a fire threatens.

We at Mighty Fire Breaker believe that property loss—either from blowing wildfire embers or wood framed building fires—can be reduced and the environment protected. We offer a safe and eco-friendly chemistry that interrupts fire’s ability to survive and advance. In the spirit of Ben Franklin's pioneering work in fire prevention and safety, we are advocating for safer and better practices in wildfire defense and the U.S. building industry. We believe our fire inhibitor chemistry and equipment will help fire departments shut down all types of fires faster—to protect not only property and human life but the environment, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants caused by fire.

Citrotech is a proven fire inhibitor that is non-toxic to the environment and which uses much less water than what is in current use. Citrotech tm can be sprayed by firefighters from a backpack cannon fogger sprayers to create longer wider fire breaks faster than digging them. It can also be sprayed up to 300 ft. from atomizing cannons towed by water trucks. This could mean that airplanes would no longer be needed to drop pink, toxic fire retardant.

“In the last five-10 years the fires have gotten so much more intense,” he said. “And you couple that with the low pay and the low staffing – now people just can’t afford to do the job. It’s so stressful.” Federal agencies, including the US Forest Service have struggled to retain qualified candidates and with each new empty seat, the strain grows.
